VariColor Clay Bowls

The varicolor bowls are a new technique that I am really enjoying. The clay is colored by hand using various oxides. This gives a uniform base clay. Bowls are made by piecing together the various colors of clay to form the bowl.

This is a labor intensive art form, but I think it is worth the time and trouble. The designs go from the inside of the bowl through the wall of the bowl and to the outside of the bowl. The contrast between the color patches of clay is dramatic.

VC-21
This bowl is made of yellow, coral, brown, green and dark green clay. The shape is smooth and functional.

Clay: Colored White | Glaze: Clear Food Safe
Height: 3.25" | Diameter: 11" | Weight: 3.5 lbs. | Price: $225

VC-15
The bowl has a woven appearance of alternating very light blue clay and blue clay.

VC-20 Al Gore's Brain on Dope
The bowl is a representation of presidential candidate Al Gore's brain on dope. The bowl is rather large and thin skinned.

Confusion and half finished ideas can be seen in many of the incomplete patterns.

Please note that this bowl is cracked and will not hold any liquid at all. The crack has been sealed but cannot be hidden.

The bowl is constructed of white, yellow, coral, brown, light green, green and black clay.

Clay: Colored White | Glaze: Clear Food Safe
Height: 2.75" | Diameter: 10.25" x 11.5" | Weight: 3 lbs. | Price: Sold

VC-19 GW Bush's Brain on Coke
The bowl is a representation of presidential candidate GW Bush's brain on Coke. The bowl is not very large and is thick skinned.

In areas of the bowl can be seen large blank solid colored areas with not much activity and confusion in other parts of the bowl.

Remember the republican commercials "This is your brain on drugs?"

This bowl is very solid and will hold any liquid, such as "Jack Daniel's." Its shallow depth limits its practicality and eventual usefulness.

The bowl is constructed of white, yellow, coral, brown, light green, green and black clay.

Clay: Colored White | Glaze: Clear Food Safe
Height: 2.25" | Diameter: 10" x 10.5" | Weight: 2.5 lbs. | Price: Sold

VC-16 Cross for All People
The beauty of this cross is the inclusion of the colors of all the people in the world. Unfortunately racism is still alive in this world. It is particularly disturbing when racial hatred is associated with religion.

The cross is constructed of white, black, yellow, red, pink and brown clay.

Clay: Colored White | Glaze: Clear
Length: 14.25" | Width: 10.5" | Depth: 1.25" | Weight: 2.75 lbs. | Price: Sold

VC-18 People's Bowl I
The beauty of this bowl is the color of all people interlocked to one purpose. This bowl is made of white, black, yellow, red, pink and brown clay.

Clay: Colored White | Glaze: Mat Food Safe
Height: 1.25" | Diameter: 6.75" x 7.5" | Weight: 14 oz's. | Price: $50

VC-17 People's Bowl II
The beauty of this bowl is the color of all people interlocked to one purpose. This bowl is made of white, black, yellow, red, pink and brown clay.

Clay: Colored White | Glaze: Mat Food Safe
Height: 1.5" | Diameter: 6.5" x 7.25" | Weight: 13 oz's. | Price: $50

VC-03
This bowl is a good example of the varicolored clay technique I am working to develop. The bowl contains pink, coral, brown, blue, yellow and black clay.

Clay: Colored White | Glaze: Clear Food Safe
Height: 5.75" | Diameter: 9.25" | Weight: 5.5 lbs. | $225
