From my earliest memories as a child I have always been involved in some art or
craft. As a
young adult the majority of my work revolved around leather, metal sculpture, stained
glass and acrylic paints.
My path in college took me to a career in science. A decidedly left brain pursuit. This
eventually led to computer programming moving me still further from the study of art.
Finally I couldn't stand it any more and one night pulled out a pencil and a sheet of
paper.
The sketch to the left is the third sketch that I did after giving up art for over
twenty-five years. It felt good and resulted in turning on the art switch again.
In the last couple of years I began working with clay. This has been a true challenge.
At times it is harder to work in three dimensions than it is to use two dimensions to represent three dimensions. The thinking process is different. Not only that but clay involves working with the elements of earth, air, water, fire and time.
The piece to the right is an example of a soft clay sculpture. I also throw pots using
a foot wheel. Please feel welcome and take the time to take a look at some of the
art work I have done. I would enjoy any comments you have.
